PACKAGE PROTOTYPING. MOCKUP MEDIA.

Package prototyping isn’t rocket science. When customers ask for a colour proof, what they’re really saying is, CAN YOU PRINT THE RIGHT COLOUR, DAVE.

Nobody needs a cockup with a mockup. So why show them anything but the real deal?

You name it, we’ve got it. Film, labels, paper, pouches – all you need for package prototyping, and at a price that’s hard to beat.

This is CGS’s Real Substrate Proofing material – package prototyping media at its finest.

FILM / PE BAG

Salt and vinegar, anyone? The example here is a standard use case for this reverse-printed ORIS Transfer Film IV, which was laminated to the substrate.

Print on a ROLAND VS-540 with CGS-XG inks. The file format’s CONTONE, the final print will be flexo. Heat-happy, no fade under temperature; white-friendly, crisp and clean (‘crisp’ and clean – geddit?)

FILM / SHEET METAL

Ideal for colour-accurate package prototyping on metallized substrates. This example is a combination of ORIS Transfer Film IV 0 – usually on a ROLAND VS-300i – definitely with CGS-XG inks. Final print, metal offset. The film will hand crimps and welds alike; spot whites are crisp and clean, and this example shows what’s possible with a translucent, copper metal effect.

PET BOTTLE LABELS

Rinse and repeat, you know the drill. This is CGS’s clear, self-adhesive ‘no-label’ look label, this 750ml PET bottle took CMYK + spot silver, gold, and green – simple, crisp, superb quality.

Usually for use on the ROLAND VS-300i. Great colour take-up, fast drying, and authoritative tactility (look and feel is spot on).

This example was put together with CMYK + 2 spot colours + white + translucent gold. ORIS Transfer Film IV on high quality metallized cardboard. Use on the ROLAND VS-300i – in this case the under-printing was white, and the over-printing was translucent gold. Outside the box – just an idea of what’s possible.

With its nanoporous coatings, uniform ink absorption, and faster drying times, this is where CGS’s mockup media film excels.

Digital mockups suck.
And serious brands know that.

Usually for use on the ROLAND VS-300i – definitely with CGS-XG inks. File format, CONTONE; and final print is flexo, naturally.

  1. Superfine film  – excellent ink retention.
  2. Excellent take-up – superb spot colours.

FILM ON A STAND-UP POUCH MOCKUP

This is just one example of CGS’s PackPROOF media, as used to create popular stand-up pouches. Here, it’s ORIS Transfer Film IV that’s been reverse printed with a matte finish on an original substrate with a clear window (made by Echt AG, Switzerland).

Process colours, two spot colour, white, and a hot foil here – and the substrate’s hotfoil and closure mechanism seal the deal. Usually for use on the ROLAND VS-300i – definitely with CGS-XG inks. File format, CONTONE; and final print is flexo.

  1. Sealing strip  – film adapts to all substrates.
  2. Adaptable – gold foil here; many other uses.
  3. Matte finish – true to final product.
  4. Spot colours, spot on – happy customers.

SHRINK FILM ON AN AEROSOL MOCKUP

Plain and simple, this is ORIS’s Heat Shrink Film – and this example was reverse printed onto an iMS (Unilever) 250ml can. Smooth as a baby’s bottom.

Here you can see a design that used three process colours and silver; this film’s usually used on the ROLAND VS-300i – definitely with CGS-XG inks. File format, CONTONE; and final print is metal decor.

  1. Shrink film  – pre-coated.
  2. Spot colours – spot on.

FILM ON A CAN MOCKUP

Bubbles – are not what you need. What you need, is mockup media (shrink film) you can trust.

This is ORIS’s Heat Shrink Film. What we have here is an example reverse printed onto a soft drink can  made by iMS, Shanghai. Tasty.

CMYK and white here – this shrink film’s usually used on the ROLAND VS-300i – definitely with CGS-XG inks. File format, 1-bit TIFF, halftone; and final print is metal decor.

  1. Crisp edging  – no wrinkling in application.
  2. Crystal clear whitepoint – superb.

FILM ON METALLIZED CARDBOARD MOCKUP

Straightforward. Simple. Except it’s not – because some film holds onto more colour than you’re expecting, which puts the mockers on everything.

This is an example of ORIS’s Transfer Film IV in use on cardboard (the original here was made by Echt AG, SWITZERLAND). CMYK, 2 spot colours, white, golf foil – the works. Usually used on the ROLAND VS-300i – definitely with CGS-XG inks. File format, CONTONE; and final print is offset with hot foil.

  1. Hot foiling  – no colour deterioration.
  2. Embossing – again, superb colour retention.
  3. Matte finish – with no loss of vivid colour.

You’ve got the idea now.
No cockups, just perfect mockups.
